This notice explains what information is handled when you visit johnkendall.com or contact me about diving training and related work.
Who is responsible for your information?
John Kendall is responsible for the personal information handled through this website. For privacy questions or requests, email john@gue.com.
Information you provide
If you use the enquiry form, I receive the information you enter: your name, email address, course or area of interest, preferred training location, diving experience and message. If you contact me directly, I also receive the information included in your email.
I use this information to respond to your enquiry, discuss possible training or services, make arrangements you request and keep an appropriate record of our correspondence. The basis for this processing is taking steps at your request before providing a service and my legitimate interest in managing genuine enquiries and my work.
How the enquiry form is delivered
The website sends enquiry-form messages to me using SMTP2GO, an email-delivery provider. The submitted information is therefore processed by SMTP2GO to deliver the message. It may also be handled by the providers used to host this website and my email service.
Website analytics
With your permission, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to collect information about visits, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, how visitors arrived at the site, and whether visitors use important links or successfully send an enquiry. The content of enquiry forms and email addresses are not sent to Google Analytics. I use aggregated reports to understand which parts of the site are useful and where the site can be improved.
Google Analytics does not load unless you select Accept analytics. You can reject it without losing access to any part of the site and can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer.
Cookies and browser storage
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
jk_cookie_consent | Browser storage used to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics. | Until you clear your browser data or change the setting. |
_ga and _ga_* | Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish visits and produce usage statistics. Set only after consent. | Up to two years, subject to Google’s settings and your browser controls. |
Server logs
The hosting service may create technical logs containing information such as an IP address, requested page, date, time and browser details. These logs are used for security, reliability and fault diagnosis and are not used by me for advertising.
How long information is kept
Enquiry information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage any resulting training or work, meet legal or accounting obligations and resolve disputes. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
Sharing and international processing
I do not sell your personal information. It is shared only where needed with service providers that operate the website, deliver email or provide analytics, or where disclosure is required by law. Some providers may process information outside your country. Where applicable, they are responsible for using appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what personal information I hold about you and request correction or deletion where applicable. You may also object to or ask for restriction of certain processing. To make a request, email john@gue.com. You may also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority where you live.
